I've been busy with other card projects so it has taken me a few days to post another in this series tracking all the sets in my collection.
This one is a great one....from 1922, it's a genuine cigarette card, issued by a British tobacco company.
But the most amazing thing about this set...is that I have the complete set!
For many years it seemed like I would never get back into the tobacco era. Now I've gotten into it and even completed a set! I have to admit, there was not really much chase to the set. Like most Tobacco era sets, I had no idea it existed until I saw it...and the first time I ever saw it was when I bought the complete set in September 2014. It was the first time I had ever been to a particular local dealer, and when I saw this set in the case, I had to have it. It cost me less than a current card box would have. Can't beat that.
Since the set is only 25 cards...here are all of them! (In numerical order, no less)
And there's the complete set.
Here's what the backs look like-
This is of course my oldest completed set- and by a wide margin. My next oldest completed set is 1971-72 Topps (basketball)
I can post the rest of the card backs if anyone wants to read them. They are all available to read on my website HERE as well.
I like this blog a lot! I love seeing those old cars...I think the Daimler is my favorite, although they are all cool.
ReplyDeleteThere are some absolutely wonderful cars in that set. How great would it have been to have seen some of those rolling out of the factory?
ReplyDeletePretty slick!
ReplyDeleteWhat a set.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments! I am always thrilled when I see a pre-WWII car at a car show, imagine seeing them all the time? Hard to contemplate.
