Card Sets Missing from my collection

As I've stated on here several times, I am primarily a base set collector. But I know that I will never be able to complete every set; aside from genuine rarity, I could not afford it. (some cards sell for more than we paid for our Jeep!) So, my goal is to have at least one card from every major set. I prefer a base card, but any card is fine- insert, parallel, promo, etc.
In my first go-round with the NBA, which lasted from 1996-2006, I accomplished the goal, or so I thought, but then they started doing the $500 a pack sets, and also I missed some without knowing they existed.

I was not able to do that for NASCAR, despite having less sets issued.

I have used the listings on the Trading Card Database to determine what is missing. I will begin with the NBA. Added 4/30/2016- underlines to separate the years.

  1. 2014-15 Panini Eminence (realistically I don't expect to ever get any of these)
  2. 2015-16 Panini Clear Vision
  3. 2015-16 Panini Gala
  4. 2015-16 Panini Luxe
  5. 2015-16 Panini National Treasures
  6. 2015-16 Panini Noir
  7. 2015-16 Panini Spectra
Now I move to NASCAR. There are less sets issued and very few not represented in my collection.

  1. 1996 Maxx Premier Series
  2. 2016 Panini National Treasures
Star Wars. This may not be complete. It does not include the cartoon based cards. I have a hard time figuring out all the varieties of Widevision sets issued in the 1990s.
  1. 1996 Topps Star Wars 3Di Widevision
  2. 1996 Topps Shadows of the Empire
  3. 2005 Topps Revenge of the Sith Widevision
  4. 2006 Topps Evolution Update
  5. 2009 Topps Star Wars Galaxy 4
  6. 2015 Topps Star Wars Masterwork
DC Comics. Only actual comic based, no cartoon or movie issued. May not be complete, as I keep finding out about new sets. (new to me, anyway)

  1. 1966 Topps Superman
  2. 1996 Fleer/Skybox Batman Holo Series
  3. 2008 Rittenhouse Batman Archives
  4. 2009 Rittenhouse Justice League of America Archives
Automotive. Again, incomplete.
  1. 1911 American Tobacco Auto Drivers
  2. 1911 Turkey Red Automobile Series
  3. 1930 Wills Cigarette's Speed
  4. 1931 Ogden Motor Races
  5. 1938 Wills Cigarette's Speed
  6. 1961 Topps Sports Cars
  7. 1965 Donruss Spec Sheet
  8. 1965 Topps Hot Rods
  9. 1970 Shell Racing Cars of the World
  10. Any others pre-1990 with the exception of 1922 Lambert & Butlers Motors Cars and 1975 John Player & Sons
Here are some Non-sports sets not in my collection that I would like them to be. This list is constantly changing as there is more I don't know about Non-sports than I do, especially the pre-1980s stuff.
  1. 1899  N72 Duke's Coins of All Nations
  2. 1933 Goudey Sea Raiders
  3. 1933 Goudey World War
  4. 1936 Goudey Auto License Plates
  5. 1936 Goudey History of Aviation
  6. 1937 Goudey Auto License Plates
  7. 1938 Goudey Auto License Plates
  8. 1939 Goudey Auto License Plates
  9. 1941 Goudey Sky Birds
  10. 1952 Topps Look 'N See
  11. 1956 Topps US Presidents
  12. 1957 Topps Isolation Booth
  13. 1957 Topps Planes
  14. 1957 Topps Space Cards
  15. 1962 Topps Civil War News
  16. 1963 Topps Astronauts
  17. 1965 Topps Battle: The Story of WWII
  18. 1972 or 1976 Topps US Presidents (Issued in 1972, reissued and updated in 1976)
  19. 2014 Cult-Stuff Civil War

The Non-Sports fields will likely expand as I learn more about what is out there- I have almost no knowledge of the Tobacco Card era but pretty much every set I learn about would find a home in my collection. The NASCAR and NBA sections will hopefully shrink in time.

  1. Billy, I have some Car and Driver cards from the Cadillac series(not complete) - are they of interestto you?

    1. I sure am Les. I got a couple of packs worth when the cards were new but I am missing at least triple what I have.

  2. Billy,
If you can send me your address again through e-mail I will get those cards from the post going your direction. Sorry, but I'm really bad about keeping addresses. You'd think I'd be much better by now after blogging for three years, but a few have still slipped through the cracks.
