One of the worst sights ever...

is when you discover that one of your cards had fallen under your computer chair and found it's way under the wheel for who knows how long?

I discovered this the other night when I thought I dropped a card, and got down on my floor to look for it. What can I say other than that I don't go under my chair all that often?

It turns out it was actually a flash drive I dropped, which is better, as no more cards were damaged.

I have already replaced it on ebay, waiting for it to arrive, already got the shipping notification. That was $20 I didn't expect to have to spend.

Later that day I had to go and two teeth drilled and filled...and the Novocain wore off before he finished. Finding the card hurt worse. That was only my second and third tooth repairs so that was a new experience. I still have 8 more that need fixing...sigh.

When the replacement arrives, I think I will hide this one deep in my storage unit. I can't throw away a card, even a badly damaged one. I doubt anyone would want it, even though the YatMing releases are not easy to find.

On the plus side, when the new one arrives and I can find out the year of release, I can add the set to the Trading Card Database. Although unusually shaped, these are cards.

  1. Been there, done that....don't think it was a $20 card I ruined tho. Ouch.

Hadn't thought about Studebakers in a long time. My grandfather and my father both owned early 60s Silver Hawks. Sweet looking but not very reliable as I recall.

    1. I'm a big fan of Studebakers. I've been to their museum in Indiana, my favorite is the bulletnose

  2. Oh, bummer. Sad to hear, but glad it is recoverable.

  3. Glad you were able to find a replacement. Sad about your teeth; thirty-two years with not ONE cavity and then boom...all this trouble. :(

    1. It's kind of ironic, I give up Skittles, starburst, jelly beans and everything gummy, and THEN my teeth go bad!

  4. Out of all the things I have dealt with, mouth pain and surgery and fillings are the worse kind of pain. Hope That gets better

    1. It's not fun, but I've been in pain so long I'm used to it. I've been in pain 24/7 for about 20 years now, but the teeth hurting is new.

  5. Sorry to hear about the card... and the dentist. I may or may not have rolled over a card before, but I've definitely stepped on cards and damaged them.

    1. Thanks, I've done that too...And dropped more that a few, and they ALWAYS land on edge, never flat!

  6. You should consider yourself lucky to have gone this long without any major dental problems, I on the other hand... come from a family that seems to be genetically predisposed to have teeth woes. I could eat nothing but toothpaste and drink nothing but fluoride, and I would probably still get cavities (that is, unless that diet killed me first). Oh, and tell that dentist not to be so stingy with the Novocain next time!

    1. I do actually, I gripe about it but it could be worse. That sounds like a pretty unpleasant meal plan, LOL! The first two times it lasted for an hour after he finished, not this time, but this time took longer to do so it probably played a role. I have to go do it again on Tuesday.

  7. Damaging your own cards is frustrating. I have dropped a card or two and ended up rolling over it with my chair but none have been a $20, though I did accidentally bite a rare Griffey card from Japan and that one was a disheartening experience.

I hope your next round of dental work is better than this one.

    1. That stinks. I guess I should be happy that I was able to replace this one so quickly. It should be, the next time is only one tooth.

  8. Never fun...I sadly have seen a tiny bit of damage at my very own hands once or thrice.

    1. Yeah...and it's funny, not haha funny but weird funny, I don't mind getting damaged cards...in fact I've been known to target damaged cards so they come cheaper, but if I do it myself? The worst thing in the world!

  9. like when my cat jumped on my lap as I was busting a box of Topps Mini baseball and she happened to jump on a Trout Mini Black Framed #ed out of 5! Ah.
