Basketball Hall of Fame Part 4

OK, so if you said while reading the last post in this series that the ball was more iconic than the jerseys, this post is for you! The Basketball Hall of Fame has a lot of historical balls on display, and there are going to be a lot in this post because of it, naturally. But not just balls...there are also a lot of trophies and awards and they are also going to be in this post, mainly because I took more than a few photos of them together.

There are really only two flaws with the Hall of Fame, and the almost complete absence of the ABA is...conspicuous. This is the only ABA artifact I saw in the entire museum.

Whew, that's a lot of pictures! thankfully, most of the balls are labeled as to why they are important.

  1. Maybe I missed it... but did they have a ball from Kobe's 81 point game?

  2. Thanks for the pictures! So are those the actual balls and the HOF wrote on them? What about the ones with the different color sections on them...is that the real ball with some sort of sticker on it?

    1. I'm pretty sure that they were painted up at the time, kind of like on hockey pucks when they label them when a player has a milestone of some sort. I know at least the one in the Michael Jordan case in the main lobby appears on a card somewhere, so that at least was done in the time frame.
