In Memorium 2022

Unfortunately 2022 ties a dubious record, with 54 people in my collection passing away through the year, making this tied for the largest year with 2020. This year should be first but somehow I haven't scanned any cards of Clark Gillies yet, even though I have several.

I'm retroactively publishing this on the 31st of December, even though I didn't write it until January 2nd, because I was sick. Doing so allowed me to include my friend Dan from the Trading Card Database, who lost his battle with cancer on the 31st. Doing this post hurts at the best of times, but moreso when it includes a friend.

  1. Somehow I missed a few of these including Charley Taylor. Franco Harris, Ronnie Hillman, and Pele passed away at the end of the year, but I know you're not a fan of either type of football. I don't even have a Franco Harris card, and Pele singles are tough to come by. I'm impressed that you have such a wide variety of cards in your collection, from Olivia Newton John to Philippe Streiff to Queen Elizabeth.

    1. I thought for sure I'd have a card of Pele from one of the multi-sport legends sets, but nope...not a single one in my collection. l really like having a wide variety of people in my collection.

    1. There's always a few that surprise me as well, that I missed throughout the year.

  4. Damn, I just filed a card of Peter McNab today. Every time I turn around these days someone from my childhood is dying.

    Always appreciate this post.
