The All-Connor All Stars

As I was watching the Oilers-Blackhawks game tonight, most of the coverage was about the first meeting of Connor McDavid vs. Connor Bedard.

But I thought, why not go further and have the All-Connor All-Stars?

Sure, you'll lead with McDavid and Bedard...

Then you add in Kyle Connor

Conor Garland, Connor McMichael and Conor Sheary are all solid players...

and you can fill out the team with Connor Brickley, Connor Brown, Conner Clifton, Connor Dewar, Connor Hall, Connor Murphy and Conor Timmins. Connors Brown and Murphy also played in the game that led to this post.

Backing up the team in net is the tandem of...

Connor Hellebuyck and Connor Ingram, a perennial All-Star and a player who is making the case to be an all-star for the first time this year.

This is actually a pretty good team, and probably could win a good number of games, even with being a little bit light on depth having only 13 skaters. Maybe some more Connors and Conors will join the NHL and fill out this team over time.

  1. Looking at baseball reference there have only been eight major leaguers named Connor, all of whom debuted in 2018 or later. Not even enough to field a team. Must be a more popular name in Canada.

    1. It's fun how in just collecting sports cards we can see how names gain popularity.

  2. Not a name I'd pick, it reminds me of bratty little boys (maybe some these guys were several years ago).

    1. Oh there are much worse names they could have gotten, haha.

  3. That's a lot of hockey players named Conor/Connor. Must be a generational thing b/c all of these guys are young. The only athlete other the McDavid that I'm familiar with with that name is McGregor.

  5. Connors are having a heck of a year (at least until Kyle got hurt) I was just telling my mom that half the NHL is named Connor, probably the day before you posted this. This would be a tough team all on its own for sure.

The lead singer of my wife's favorite band (Nothing But Thieves) is Conor Mason, and I've joked with her that he sounds like he should be the goalie for Minnesota based on his name alone.
