August 2026 New People

 I accomplished a bit more scanning in August than I did in July...sort of. I actually scanned most of these cards during July, but didn't get them cropped and labeled until August. 

10 new people were scanned, including George Pullman who I mentioned in the last post. All three hockey players and Cleetus were scanned but not cropped in July. 

I got 175 cards scanned (Cropped and labeled) during the month.

New People are a higher number although some of the people appear in both places. I picked up the 2024 Sport Kings Volume 5 during the month which gave me a lot of unusual sports for my collection. In fact, I believe the first cards in my collection at all for competitive wood chopping and dog jumping. 

Late in the month, too late to get scanned, my mom gave me the complete set of the 1997 Three Stooges card set so 5 of the 6 Stooges appear in my collection for the first time, only Moe had been in my collection previously. Although I now have the complete 72 card set, their personal numbers are low. For my collection stats, a person has to have the card all to themselves for it to count, and most of the cards in the set have at least two Stooges per card. Most have three, of course. Not a complaint, just an explanation. I recently got into watching them for an hour and a half every night as they are on MeTV+. Turns out they have a lot of cards, including cards issued during their careers, so that's definitely something new to chase. 

I got 373 new cards during the month, which is a lot. I got all three sets of Parkside Smithsonian cards, which is 150 cards in and of themselves. Fun sets, hopefully will get a post up about them once I get them scanned. Interestingly, I didn't get a single NHL card during the month. Think that is the first month this year, but I would have to look it up to be sure. With the season starting this month, I'm sure I'll get the need for new hockey cards shortly. 

New People July 2026

 July was a very light month for scanning. The only cards I scanned, edited and labeled were the 16 card Knicks championship set, the 4 card Knicks Championship Parade set and two of the regular Topps Now card from the Finals. It was, I think, the first time I did more than one page and they were all from the same team, which is pretty cool in a way...and also makes my monthly upload a whole lot easier. 

Even though it was a small month, there were two new people, both Rookies on the Knicks team were making their first appearance in my collection.

I like to crop it to include the time, date and temperature that my computer shows. No real purpose other than I find it interesting. 

New people added to my collection was much more than the new people scanned with 24 people appearing in my collection for the first time.

Both Knicks rookies make an appearance on this list also, along with the 2026-27 rookies which have started arriving from Topps Now. Due to money reasons I didn't get all of them, but I did get the Knicks, Nets and a couple of other players. My mom surprised me with a hobby box of 2025-26 Parkhurst which gave me most of the NHL players, and a box of Historic Autographs 1700s Edition, which gave me all the Non-Sports people. I added 311 new cards in July which is also a somewhat lower number than I've been averaging this year, although would have been a large month last year. 

I could swear I had a card previously of Blackbeard but I couldn't find it under either name, and I even tried alternate spellings of his real name but none listed. It's possible I either made a mistake and this truly is my first card of him, or it's possible I made a mistake and missed listing him. Either way, a mistake was made but he's listed now. I was actually able to add a new NBA player via trade on the Database also, which, 30 years into the sport and actively seeking out cards of people I don't have, doesn't happen all that often. Brooks Barnhizer from the Thunder was a rookie in 2025-26 for the Thunder (Or at least was long enough to get a card in Topps' flagship, I didn't look to see if he actually played) and his card came to me in part of a trade that brought me to 299 of the 300 card set. Before I hit publish I decided to look him up and yes, he played 40 games this year, nearly half of them, (82 game season) for the Thunder. Perhaps I will get him scanned for next month, although I am doing much more model stuff than card stuff at this time...I barely got myself at my computer long enough to write this post, and at that it took me 8 days between doing the upload and writing about it. 

New People May and June 2026

 When I went to compose the June new people post, I realized that I forgot to write a post for May. Oops. I can't remember if I have forgotten in the past or not, which is kind of funny in and of itself. 

I scanned 57 new people in May, a large majority of them from the AHL box my Mom gave me for Glad I'm Not Dead Day. 

New people was pretty big! Many of the people appear in both places but there are more people added than scanned. I got 475 new cards in May and scanned 695 cards

Moving to June, all numbers went down, despite the fact that I made a rare trip to Target and Walmart and bought some blasters, most of which were people I already had in my collection. May 1st- Glad I'm Not Dead Day- is treated by my family as a second birthday as it was my second chance at life after coming literally 5 minutes away from dying in 2013, and has become one of the major card receiving days of the year, with my birthday and Christmas. 

Only 27 new people were scanned in June, with every single one of them except 1 also being added in the month. (Brett Berard). 14 of the 27 were from the WNBA Draft set I bought from Panini Instant. 

New people added for June shows the color coding that I use for myself to make it find who I'm looking for easier. My four main sports get a color unique to them. I normally screencap it as soon as I finish entering them into my chart, but I made a mistake with the very first person alphabetically here, originally listing her under M. Then I looked up her Wikipedia page and realized that Akoa is part of her last name, not a middle name. WNBA again dominates the new people- most of them from the same Instant set, but I also bought a Prizm blaster for some reason- I will post about that at some point, probably. All the miscellaneous sports people came from the SI for Kids magazine which arrived on June 30th, barely making it into the month. 

I scanned 532 cards during the month- most of them in the last week as it got too hot to paint models- and I added 346 new cards during the month, more than half of them from the aforementioned trip to Target/Wal-Mart. 

New People April 2026

 After a crazy high number of cards scanned in March, April was much slower with only 445 cards scanned. New additions were up though with 819 new cards. 

64 of the 445 cards scanned were new people, with 24 of the 64 being hockey players, and the vast majority of them coming from the Star Rookie Box Set, which my family gave me as an Easter gift. The biggest person appearing for the first time this month is Matthew Schaefer, surely going to win NHL's Rookie of the Year award and be a major factor in the league for the forseeable future. 

Something happened this month that is pretty rare- a person's first appearance in my collection is with a 1/1 card, and that is Woody Guthrie. The Historic Autographs 15th Anniversary set includes 2 1/1 cards per box and 4 cards that are SN to 6 copies each- two of them were non-people cards but the other two were old time baseball players (Lefty Grove and Hack Wilson) and they both appear here too. 

It's easier to acquire cards than it is to scan them, and 103 people joined my collection for the first time this month.

There's a lot of NASCAR people in here thanks to a GREAT trade I made on the Database that got me a large chunk of the 1992 Winner's Choice set, which I had completely missed previously. Most of the players in the Star Rookies Box Set also appear here...of the 25 cards in the set 19 of them were new to my collection. 

Technically I only added 102 new people. I didn't realize there were two NBA players named Jaylin Williams. One was born in 2000, and one in 2002. I got the card scanned of the older Jaylin Williams and I realized that it was not the same face on the card, so it must have been a different person, which is true. So although I actually got his card for my birthday back in October, I discovered he existed this month and the screencap reflects that. The older Jaylin is in the Nuggets system, while the younger Jaylin is a part of the Thunder team that won last year's NBA Championship and will likely win this year's as well. 

New People March 2026

 March was a crazy month. I had a very painful surgery as I've written about which put me out of action for a couple weeks. I still managed to scan 1465 cards, which is the most I've done in a month since January of 2025. I was really enjoying the scanning process when I was able to. 

140 new people were scanned this month. A pretty good mix of every topic except racing- none were new from there. The G-League cards I got for my birthday in October, but just got scanned, added a lot of people making their first appearance. 

Ever since I started the Alphabetical Directory, now 7 years and 4 months ago (!), letters M and S have been in a battle for the lead with most people scanned. M hit 1400 people this month, with 1404. S fell JUST short, with 1399 people, but B actually took the lead, with 1406 people! I believe this is the first time B has ever held the lead although I'd have to go back and reread all the monthly recap posts to be sure. 

Letter H became only the fourth letter to have 1000 people scanned this month as well, coming in at 1009. 

47 new people joined my collection, with the majority of them coming from two stacks of football cards I was given, and the Topps Now Olympic cards, of which 19 of 21 arrived during the month of March. They just barely didn't fit into one screencap so some names are repeated here. 

New People February 2026

 February was a weird month. I really enjoyed scanning and I did a lot of it - 1237 cards in total. This is despite the fact that I took roughly a week off surrounding the wisdom tooth removal which I had done on the 11th. 

I used the time I was recovering from that to FINALLY sort and post the Busch and Truck series cards into albums for each team on Cardboard History Gallery, something I've been wanting to do for a while but hadn't put aside any time for it. Now, finally, more than 7 years after I launched it, the Cardboard History Gallery is fully built! Now from here on, it's just maintaining with what I scan each month. 

For being the shortest month of the year, I scanned a LOT of new people...130. Of the 130 new people, 47 are women, which may be a record. I began scanning the PWHL cards and I finished the 2025 Donruss WNBA blaster I bought, which provided the majority of the women. 

Among the bigger names were Megan Keller, Olympic Golden Gold scorer, Marie-Philip Poulin and Nyara Sabally, the last New York Liberty player I was missing from my collection that got included in the 2025 Donruss checklist. 

I added 572 new cards in February, with almost 400 of them coming via trade on the Database. Most of them were people previously in my collection, but there were some new people too. 

I actually scanned almost all of them, too. Five of the hockey players arrived via trade on February 28th and I just didn't have time to scan them, and the Olympics athletes I was waiting until I had enough of the Topps Now cards to scan a full page of just them, and enough have arrived that that is now possible, so expect to see them in the March update. 

January 2026 New People

 What a month January was. I started by completing a set I've been chasing for 3 decades, I doubled my set completion totals from 2025, (2 sets) I updated my tradelist and started trading on the Database again, I came up with a new technique to scan some cards, and oh yeah- I had a nasty infection which left me in agony for a week. Plus we had a 14 inch snowstorm on top of all that, and the coldest temperatures we've seen in 7 years. Calling it a whirlwind would not be an exaggeration. 

And hey, in that time I also managed to scan 1081 cards! That's quite a lot. 

115 of them were new people I had never scanned before...although I was SURE I had scanned a George Washington Carver card in the past. It's possible that card was one of the scans I lost in 2016 when my first remote hard drive died, and why I now keep every scan I make in multiple places. 

There are some big names here. Connor Zilisch is the biggest prospect in NASCAR in 2 decades. Shane Van Gisbergen was the first driver to win his debut race since 1963. Florian Xhekaj is only the 4th person in my collection to start with the letter X. Zach Boychuk is the only NHL player to follow me on Twitter. Non-Sports again gets a big boost with the Pieces of the Past cards I added. Marie Curie, Herman Melville (who I'm related to), Beethoven, Monet, van Gogh, Rembrandt, and more. WNBA got a big boost since they got their first real set since 2019. 

I also hit 500 different people with a last name starting with A this month. It's the 15th letter to hit the 500 mark. F is at 499 people although I didn't scan anyone new this month, one of only five letters with E, Q, U and Y to not get anyone new. 

However, even bigger news is that hockey hit 4000 people scanned! But bigger still. Non-sports hit 1000 people scanned! I came into the month with 3999 hockey and 981 non-sports scanned, and I didn't know when the month started that I would hit the mark. I in fact didn't even realize it until I was composing this post.

I don't know who Scan #1000 for non-sports was, but Upload #1000 is Edvard Munch.

This came from the 2025 Pieces of the Past Art & Music Edition set, which is a great one. 

I did know who would be #1000 for hockey and I paid attention to that. It was Ella Shelton.

I'm so glad the PWHL is getting cards now. I missed the 2023-24 set entirely but I was able to get two blasters of the 2024-25 set. Unfortunately most of the base cards were the exact same in both blasters- even the Dazzlers Blue insert was the exact same. Panini style, unfortunately. 

I got 679 new cards in January, thanks in large part to a major sale Blowout cards had. One of them I got was a jumbo box of 2019 Donruss NASCAR which was the second set I completed this year. Of the 679 new cards, 201 of them came from that box. I didn't hit 679 new cards until May 1st last year! 

I also like to work on my card listing while I watch the snow so I opened up some of my pack stash during the multiple snow storms we had this month. 

I was able to add 70 new people to my collection in January, split mostly by the WNBA blaster I got and the various Pieces of the Past sets I got as well

Overall I would say January, hobby wise, was already better than most of 2025 was. I'll be curious to see how the rest of the year plays out. 

This month marks 30 years of watching the NBA so I'll have to do something to celebrate that. 

December 2025 New People

 December was, unsurprisingly, a big month. It always is, as Christmas is traditionally the biggest day of the year for me card wise. 2025 was no different. But more than just Christmas, I also bought a couple of boxes during the Black Friday sales that arrived in December, and they were FILLED with new people. I got three Non-sports boxes and a PWHL blaster, in which almost every single player was new. I also did plenty of scanning, including starting to scan some of my Christmas additions. 

I scanned 393 cards in December and of them, 67 were new people never before scanned...and there's some HUGE names in here in non-sports. Benjamin Franklin. William Shakespeare. Annie Oakley. The list goes on. I LOVE non-sports cards but don't have access to too many of them, and most modern cards are movie and TV based, which do not generally give cards to people, so the historical sets from Pieces of the Past are really important to my collection. Of note- the John Dickinson card is 1/1. He is currently the only person in my collection who is represented by only a 1/1 card and no others. He was pretty important to the early history of Pennsylvania and Maryland and one of only a handful of signers of the Constitution to fight in the Revolution. 

New people added was even more full.

123 new people came out of 1252 new cards in the month, more than half of them coming on Christmas day. More than a few appear in the new people scanned as well. Both new people and total new cards was actually less than November but more than half of all my 2025 additions came to me in the last two months of the year. 2899 of 4770 over the last two months, 1871 in the first 10 months combined. That's unusual, December almost always sees a bump but most years are higher throughout the first 10 months. I'm not complaining, just keeping track and I find it very interesting. 

I will be curious to see what 2026 holds. I have no specific goals for the year, whatever happens happens but I will be keeping this series of posts going because like I said, I find it interesting. 

New People November 2025

 November was a HUGE month for me for cards. I don't know why, but like I've mentioned before once November came it was just like a switch flipped and all I wanted to do was card stuff. It's not tied to the seasons for two of the three sports I collect starting, because they were both well under way when that happened. 

I ended up getting 1647 new cards in the month of November, which is not only the most for any month this year, it's literally 1/3rd of all the cards I've gotten in 2025. Of those cards, a whopping 180 of them were new people never before seen in my collection, which is, I believe, the largest number of new people since I began keeping track of monthly additions when I started this blog series. It was truly a great month. 

Of the 180 new people, 70 were NBA players, with the majority coming from the 2025-26 rookie class, although that's certainly not all of them. Quite a few others were seen in the card show recap, including even one player from the 1972-73 Topps cards I got. 

I didn't accomplish as much scanning as in other months, because documenting those new cards into my collection - and getting my collection up to date on the Database, which I've gone back to - took up a lot of time. I still managed to scan 532 cards in November which was still quite a bit. 

Appearing on both charts are a large number of wrestling ladies, a gift from a fellow blogger. 

87 of 532 cards turned out to be new people, with a decent mix of subjects. Some of the NBA players I could have sworn I had already scanned, but I couldn't find any proof of that. (Alexandre Sarr, Cason Wallace in particular). As I predicted last month, Yongxi Cui, who I added to my collection on Halloween, was indeed scanned in November. 

For the wrestling people I listed them only if they have a traditional name format, even though I know they aren't really their names in most cases. I view it as no different than for example an actor who uses a stage name or an NBA player that goes by their nickname, like Bonzi Wells, or who legally changed their name, like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. If they only go by one name I didn't include them, except Asuka since it's somewhat common for Japanese athletes to use only one name. 44 of the 87 new people were wrestlers. 

There were so many new people this month that I had to use 4 extra images to get them all in! I really enjoy the documenting aspect of the collection more than anything else, so a big month like this was a lot of fun. In the few days during December that it took me to do the upload of all these scans, I got more new people into my collection already. Just 4 days (and a few bonus hours in #5) and the month is already off to a great start. 

New People Scanned October 2025

 It's been a busy month card wise. I finally got caught up on my paper listing, after not touching it since April. I got more cards in the first week of November than I think I have in any other month of the year (or at least it seems like it!) and then I spent the last week putting all my new additions from the last three years on the Trading Card Database. 

Lost in all of that was my monthly upload, which I do on the 1st of the month, or at least start on the first. I didn't do much scanning in October, but I still got new people scanned, and I got new people in the collection, too. A good portion of them appear on both screenshots.

All but one of the new people scanned came from the "box" of Haunted Hoops I got for my birthday. Rajah is the lone person not from that, and I could swear I had scanned a card of him previously, but I was wrong. 

Every single one of the new people I got came from the Haunted Hoops birthday present. All of them appear in the above scan except Yongxi Cui who I got from the single pack I saved to scan, and which I opened on Halloween. I have not done any scanning at all in November yet- although I'm planning to do some as soon as I hit publish on this post- but don't be surprised if he appears in the November new people post's Newly Scanned screenshot. 

Stephon Castle was last season's Rookie of the Year so it was nice to get him into my collection. I've doubled my collection of him in November already! OK, that's not that big an accomplishment when you had a total of 2 cards :) 

I'm writing this on the 17th and I already know the New People Added screenshot is going to be much bigger for November. 

Because I am using this series for my own documenting of history, I scanned 132 cards in October. 

New People September 2025

 September was a pretty light month for me card wise. I spent most of the month doing model stuff. The season is almost over for painting, by the end of this month or the first week of November is usually when it gets too cold to paint so I'm trying to get as much accomplished there while I can, but that leaves little time for cards. However, as it gets colder and modeling isn't viable I'll be switching back to doing card stuff a lot more, so perhaps next month's post will be more interesting than this one. 

I scanned only 9 cards in September, one page worth of the new MVP hockey set which I showed in the last post. None of the people were new. 

New people added were also very light, with only 4 people added. Three of whom came from the same MVP blaster I bought. Q is a pretty rare letter to get someone new from, so there's that at least. V used to be rarer but there are a lot of hockey players with V names so not as rare as it once was when I was only doing NASCAR and NBA. 

New People August 2025

 August is traditionally my least active month in the hobby. I don't really know why that is- it's usually too hot to do much anything else, although that was not the case this year. But for whatever reason August is always the month I get the least amount of cards. This year continued that tradition. I basically only did card stuff for 2 days on the entire month, one of which was buying some and one of which was scanning some. 

I did only 27 scans the entire month, and Cody Bass was the only new person scanned. This is actually the only card I have of him also, it was a gift from a friend. 

New People added was also small but it includes some pretty big names. Connor Zilisch is the biggest prospect in the sport to come up in generations. He's a Rookie of the Year candidate in the Xfinity series, and he's leading the points and has scored 8 wins, the most ever by a rookie...with 10 races left to go...and he missed one and a half races due to injury. It's already announced he's going to run for Cup Series rookie of the year next year, and everyone, myself included, expect him to contend for race wins pretty much instantly. Frankie Muniz is also a pretty big name, a TV and Movie star, he is running for Rookie of the Year in the Truck series, or he was before he broke his arm last week. He will probably miss the remainder of the season now because of it. He is chasing his dream to be a race car driver although the team he's with is not particularly good and the results just haven't been there. The cards of Muniz and Beers also added two new teams to my NASCAR collection, which is interesting. A third team was added that made it's debut last season with a veteran driver, Matt DiBenedetto. 

Also of note this month, the Buffalo Sabres became the 15th team in my NHL collection to reach 1000 cards. The Blues and Lightning are close, 4 and 17 away respectively. If I opened up all the packs I have stashed I know they would get there, but right now I'm more involved with my model stuff and probably won't get back into card stuff until it gets too cold to work on models. 

July 2025 New People Added

 I can't believe I forgot to type this post up at the start of the month. I went in to make a different post and realized it wasn't there. I don't expect anyone to care but I am doing this to track my collection growth, not because anyone else cares. 

38 new people which is a lot. I got some of the IndyCar cards locally, and I mail ordered a box of N G-League cards, which gave me pretty much all of the NBA guys. I hit the local card show for the second time this year (another post I need to write...) which gave me the hockey people. 

I didn't scan anyone new in the month. I scanned only 6 cards in all of July, 5 of which were shown in my last post about the Chinese NBA cards. 

June 2025 New People

 June was a weird month. It seemed like I did a lot of card stuff, but at the end it turned out it didn't. I only scanned 315 cards for the entire month and only 33 of them were done before June 30th. I did spend more of the month on my modeling hobby. I finished these all in June. Decaling is my favorite part so I was doing that and not finishing the builds, letting them get way too backlogged. There is literally months worth of work in this photo.

But I did scan cards, and of those 315, there were 82 people getting scanned for the first time.

You can see that quite a few of them were the ladies from the last post.13 of the 82. 

New additions of the month were very slim- 39 cards, 21 of which were Hero Cards I got at the Lime Rock race. I still need to write a post about it, but after 33 years as a NASCAR fan, I actually went and saw NASCAR on track in person for the first time! 

Every single of the people I added to my collection during June came from the track. Mabel Santley is included here too, but I actually added her to my collection in 2019....I just identified who she was this month. Close enough. 

Fun fact: Butterbean Queen is the first person in all of auto racing who has a last name starting with Q to get scanned. I have two cards of Dale Quarterley but they have not been scanned yet. He was in the race but did not attend the autograph session where I got all the cards. More on the racing stuff when I get a post written. Sorry I have not been writing much. Depressed and it's keeping me from doing much. 

New People May 2025

 May was a big month for cards. I don't know why exactly, but traditionally it's always one of the big three months when it comes to card stuff, along with September (when I traditionally go to Lake George) and December (Christmas). This May was no different. I got cards again, I got back to scanning, and the burn out I gave myself by scanning more than 2000 cards in January went away. I ended up scanning 1103 cards during May, which was a lot of work to upload because there were a LOT of new people scanned. I came across a box that had some baseball and football, but also had all of the 1992 US Olypicards I had and a big stack of half naked ladies. Almost all of the latter two needed to have albums created, and it was doubly challenging because a good portion of the ladies had no names printed on the front of the cards. 

To make this I had to take 4 screenshots and combine them! 

Of the 258 new people scanned, exactly 100 were the above mentioned ladies, among 102 non-sport people scanned in total. This months uploads brings me to 935 non-sport people scanned. That's actually down two over what it would have been because I was reading the backs of the cards as I scanned them and I realized two of the women in the sets were actually athletes and should have been in the Other Sports category, which I corrected. That was Gail Kim, a wrestler, and Mia St. John, a boxer. They now reside in Other Sports.

Interestingly enough I scanned more NBA cards than another other topic during May, but every single one of them were of people that had already been scanned. Auto racing only got a few cards scanned but they were all previously done as well.

Randomly oddball factoid: I do believe this is the first month ever where two people named Ivan got scanned for the first time. Ivan Robinson, a boxer, and Ivan Zweig, a baseballer. 

With May 1st being "Glad I'm Not Dead Day", which celebrates the anniversary of when I got my second chance at life after coming literally 5 minutes away from dying back in 2013, my family always gives me cards and I got quite a few in May because of same. Because I got some NBA cards, which have been very hard to come by here lately, I got quite a few new NBA players.

but hockey was not left out either of course. Nick Perbix and Brett Leason were both from this year's OPC so both of them got scanned. All the rest wait for the Heystack machine. Another fun factoid: Devin Cooley is the only NHL player known to have a pet rabbit. 

Yet another fun fact: Despite now being over 18,000 different people, these are the first people in my collection named Filipowski, Leason, Mogbo, Perbix, Salaun or Scheierman. 

New People April 2025

 After a VERY small March, April saw an influx in new cards, which of course led to increasing the new people scanned.

21 new people were scanned during the month of April, all of them from the NHL- and all but one from this year's O-Pee-Chee, which I bought a hobby box of during the National Trading Card Day. Jesper Wallstedt came from the NHCD set itself. 

I added 40 new people to my collection during April, and I hit another milestone- 18,000 people in my collection, with the asterisk that there are people listed that I can't quite track down, which may be typos of other people.

New People February 2025

 2025 started strong in January, but I gave myself a bit of burnout and didn't do anywhere NEAR the same amount in February, Whereas January saw me scan over 2000 cards, I only scanned 221 in February, and didn't really enjoy doing them...mostly working on them when it was too cold to work on models. It's too cold to spray paint outside now, so I'm doing a lot of prep work. 

Of the 221 cards scanned, 13 of them were new people, and 6 of them were people I got a card of at the card show specifically because I didn't have a card of them...it turns out I didn't have any of Ilya Zubov but I didn't know that until I did the monthly update of what is in my collection. 

On that topic, here are the people I didn't have before this last month.

It wasn't much but anything that gets accomplished is a good thing. 

New People January 2025

 That was a crazy large upload. January started strong scanning wise, with me scanning more cards in the month than I did in any month for over a year- 2091 cards to be exact. As it turns out, only doing cards without foil goes a lot faster than those with foil. Uploading took forever, complicated by a few things, including my chronic health problems acting up a lot, and Fotki not working for a day and a half, which is highly unusual. They may have been upgrading their servers because I notice the uploading process was faster when it returned from being down. 

Because I was working through whatever came out of the boxes, and not searching out anything specific, I ended up scanning a lot of baseball and football this month, plus a bunch of minor league hockey which led to a lot of new people. So many new people that I had to break the screenshot into three parts and combine them with Photoscape! 

220 new people got scanned for the first time this month! Including somebody I didn't even know was in my collection! I have 1 card each of two different baseball players named Craig Wilson. I didn't know this until I went to upload the scan of the second one and realized they were two different people. 

93 of the 220 were baseball players, 55 were hockey and 39 were football.  

You may notice that one person- Francois Groleau- is not highlighted in the screencap. He was not scanned this month, but I just created his listing due to a mistake on my part that I noticed and corrected during the course of this month's upload. 

The most important thing about this month's uploads- baseball hit 1000 people scanned! I talked about when they may happen in a previous post and it happened this past month. Frank White happened to be the 1000th person to be uploaded. 

Not only did Baseball hit 1000 people, it passed Other Sports! I didn't scan anyone at all for other sports this month, and with the influx of new baseball people it now stands at 1008 people scanned, while other sports is at 1005. Not a big difference, but interesting, at least to me. 

With 4230 people basketball still has a healthy lead, although hockey is closing in fast, taking the lead is not outside the realm of possibility. 

For people added to the collection, January was light. 

All the hockey players came from the Topps Stickers, which I no longer have access to due to Topps being stupid, so that cuts off my main source for new people added to the collection. My entire input of new cards in January came from the end of the Topps Now stickers, the SI for Kids magazine subscription I maintain for the cards, and a small purchase I made off a friend which yielded no new people. I made a mistake when I did this listing - Ayoka Lee should be listed as NCAA, not WNBA. I've corrected it in my listing but didn't feel like making another screeenshot. 

December 2024 New People

 My goal for 2024 was to scan at least some cards every month during the year. I was successful in that goal, and ended the year with a bang...December was my largest month of scanning during all of 2024, which saw me scan 1266 cards, narrowly eclipsing June when I scanned 1256 cards. 

Naturally, with that many cards scanned, there were going to be a lot of new people. 

110 of them, to be exact! Several of these people didn't even appear in my collection until Christmas day. The largest portion of people came from baseball this month as I came across a large batch of 1989 Donruss to scan. The current way where I just work on whatever is next up out of the box instead of picking and choosing has proven to be very much fun for me, and I never know what will come out of the next box I grab out of the stack. Other than new additions like Christmas, I foresee doing this style of scanning is now the new norm for me. 

There is one mistake in the above image. It shows 111 people but it was actually 110, when I made the screencap I didn't realize I had Bo Jackson already listed under football and added him again for baseball. When I updated the Alphabetical Directory album for J on the Cardboard History Gallery I realized he was already there. 

The new people added to my collection in December was pretty heavy with NBA players, thanks to getting two boxes of the Topps G-League set for Christmas, which most of the people in those boxes never getting cards before they were guaranteed to be new. The hockey people mostly came from the cards I got for Christmas although the Topps Now stickers also contributed. In total I added 57 new people in December, 19 of whom also got scanned during the month....the rest set aside for the Heystack machine. 

My goal of scanning at least something every month being met, my goal for 2025 is....continue scanning at least some cards every month. Yay for achievable goals! 

New People November 2024

 November was a fairly light scanning month. My desire to work on models returned so I did that for most of the month instead of scans. As such, I only scanned 414 cards. 

32 of them turned out to be new people, and as I predicted, the majority of them were indeed from the Haunted Hoops box. 

The 2024-25 Topps Now cards (stickers) also started arriving and added the first 5 new people from the current season for either the NHL or NBA, the latter of which I have not gotten any 2024-25 cards from yet and don't even know if they have been released. 

These were the people who joined my collection in November. While a lot of them appear in the scanned screenshot as well, not all do- I got myself a box of the Topps G-League set but am holding off on scanning them for now. I'm holding out for the Heystack system, which will hopefully be sometime in 2025. It's not really up to me but up to technology becoming available. Ever since the NY Fanatics Fest I've been setting aside any card with foil of any sort on it for the day when I can get my hands on one of those machines. There's still plenty of foilless cards awaiting their turn to be scanned, so even though I am really looking forward to getting those G-League cards properly documented, I'll wait.
