Here we go again!

2019 Donruss. Needs more cars.

 Batman Returns Stadium Club insert. They also did a stand-alone Stadium Club set with the exact same design.

 I picked up this SN card from 2018-19 Hoops at the Plainville show in March, and just scanned it in May.

 I managed to pull a Rangers YG from both series 1 and 2 of this year's UD!

 This card came to me in trade from Database member Flyers for Life.

 Ultra Gold Medallions are my second favorite parallel concept in the history of cards. Refractors are my favorites.

 A 1st Day Issue parallel from 1994-95 Stadium Club. I got this at the Enfield show in February, and scanned it in May.

 A base card from Batman Returns. I got some of these new, then did not get another card until 2019. 27 years after they were issued.

1993 Maxx, one of the most iconic Ford paint schemes in Cup history to me. This scheme was used from 1992 (when this photo was taken) through 1995, and run once as a throwback in 2005. Even though it was only 4 years, in a career that lasted 33 years, this is THE car I think of when I think of Mark Martin.

Another Random Scan Post

Just like last time. Written the same day, posted...whenever. Let's see what else I've been scanning.

 1995-96 Stadium Club. The holofoil scans really blue. This is the first set to have a pronunciation guide that I have seen, chronologically. Guy Hebert is a semi-local guy.

 2000-01 SPx. For some reason I never really liked the 2000-01 designs.

 I actually have to look up what year this Score insert goes to. I think 1993-94

 An insert from this year's Revolution, which I traded with AirPete for.

 2012-13 Score, my 2nd favorite NHL set, after only 1990-91 Pro Set.

 1996-97 Upper Deck. I don't think I've seen any footage of this uniform in action. It's kind of cool, but slightly jarring seeing the Canucks in red. These are easier to read in scans than in hand.

 1989-90 O-Pee-Chee. My copy is a little scratched up.

2018-19 Upper Deck UD Canvas. My first Sabres card of Skinner. I hope he resigns in Buffalo, and keeps up how he started the year. Pulled this one from a pack.

Guilt free...but I still feel guilty

I feel guilty for two reasons- it takes me a heck of a long time to get a thank you post written- and I feel guilty/bad about the fact that I'm tapped out on stuff to send back, since I have not been buying too much lately. Of course, I am referring to madding's Guilt-Free Basketball Card Club, and the recent package that arrived from the Pacific Northwest chock full of Nets, Warriors, and now Knicks, goodness.

And when I say goodness, I am not kidding.

This Jarrett Allen autograph floored me- this is a big time card. Certainly a card I am too much of a cheapskate to ever buy for myself, that's not in question. But that wasn't all!

 My first card from this year's Certified

 He sent me two copies of this card- one with a white fabric swatch, and this one, which is dark blue, but scans black. It's my first card from this insert, to boot!

 I didn't know they did a blue Velocity in last year's Optic until I got this card!

 While Westbrook doesn't play for either of the thee teams I've claimed, I'm happy to have this insert from last year's Hoops. Westbrook does not get enough credit for what he's accomplishing.

 Most people classify this as a Warriors card, but I actually track it and class it as an All-Star card.

 Love the texture on the various Kings inserts from that year's Donruss.

This isn't the base Fleer card, I completed that set a long time ago. This is the Tony's Pizza promo version, which is much harder to find! In fact, it's only my third or fourth from the promo set. The only difference in the cards is the Pizza cards are not numbered.

And that's not all. There's still 19 more cards I have not scanned yet- but I can't hold this post off any longer while I wait to get them scanned up.

While I'm on the topic of thank yous, I received a rather large single card PIF from cnangle of the Database. This was a big surprise to  me because we had an argument a few weeks back and I'm not actually sure we're on speaking terms right now, aside from the obvious surprise of getting a needed card from 1969-70 in the mail unexpectedly! I owe him a thank you for sure, this is not the first time that he has sent me stuff and I have not sent him anything yet. I will be changing that hopefully fairly soon, but since I move at a glacial pace it might still be a few months.

Random Scan Post

Busy with models, but too windy to paint today (err, yesterday, as I'm scheduling this for Friday, but typing it Thursday), didn't have all the paint I needed, so might as well write up a post.

I'm taking the easiest route possible because I have a lot of model related stuff to do that I've been putting off for...eh, almost a decade now. (properly labeling my pictures, updating my decal collection scans, etc).

So, I'm going to just show ten semi-random cards. The randomness comes from the fact that I'm only pulling from scans that are sitting on my hard drive, not yet processed into my folders. That's not too many cards but enough that I can get some posts out of it.

1996-97 Bowman's Best Refractor, from a trade I made in January with AirPete of the Trading Card Database and Pete's Card Habit.

 I have always been a DC fan but I remember being a big fan of this X-Men cartoon when I was a kid. I don't remember much of it unfortunately.

 1995-96 Ultra. Ultra is my favorite NBA brand, I don't know yet what my favorite NHL brand will be.

 2005-06 MVP, with their very hard to read name fond. It's easier in scans than in person, because it's bigger.

 1995-96 Upper Deck Zan Tabak. I took this card in via trade or gift earlier this year (I don't remember exactly where, and since I'm trying to type up a bunch of posts quickly, not inclined to look it up. I thought it was a duplicate at first because I've been familiar with the photo for years- I pulled the Electric Court parallel when it was new.

 I told you it would be random!

 Unfortunately my copy's bottom right corner took a big hit.

1 Player, 1 Card, 3 Teams

Editor's note: I'm too busy working on models to actually write posts at this time. I only have a short window I can build in before it gets too hot and humid, so when the weather is good it takes up all my attention. This post was written a few months ago and held in queue. I completed my first model of 2019 on Monday, so I am accomplishing something!

It's not uncommon to have cards of a player listed with one team but shown with another. Players get traded or sign with new teams all the time.

But three teams on one card? That's rarer, but not unheard of. I've been wanting to write about that topic for a while, but never got to it. Now, I scanned a card that shows it so I figure it's a perfect time.

B.J. Armstrong played the 1994-95 season with the Chicago Bulls, in fact he had played his entire 6 year career to that point with the Bulls, winning three NBA titles in the process. However, the NBA added two new teams for the 1995-96 season, and he went to the Toronto Raptors as one of their expansion picks.

The earlier 1995-96 releases list him as a member of the Raptors. However, he would never play a game for the club. He refused to, in fact, despite being their first pick. With no other options available, the Raptors had to make a trade.

Three months after the draft- and around one month before the season began- he was traded by the Raptors to the Golden State Warriors for FIVE players. A 1-for-5 deal is quite rare in and of itself. The trade was made too late for some of the cards to mention it at all, while several added Traded To demarcation, as this Metal card did, and some others. (of the five players he was traded for, only 2- Carlos Rogers and Victor Alexander - ever got an NBA card, all 5 played in the NBA)

Back in those days, most sets had a Series II so he soon began showing up in Warriors uniform.

After a year+ in Oakland, he was again traded for more than one player- this time to the Charlotte Hornets, who sent both their point guards to Golden State for him.

It's interesting to ponder what could have happened if he was not traded by the Raptors. He surely would have been their starting point guard in their first season, but instead that went to Damon Stoudamire, who would go on to win Rookie of the Year that season, my first as a fan of the sport. More than likely Stoudamire would not have gotten anywhere near the playing time to be Rookie of the Year if he was on the bench behind a capable and durable point guard. B.J. Armstrong was a starting point guard on the Championship Bulls, after all, and played all 82 games in the 1995-96 season. I was unable to find the final voting for Rookie of the Year for the season, so I'm not sure who was runner up. I think it may have been Antonio McDyess, but I'm not sure where to even look. Whether it was McDyess, Joe Smith, Michael Finley or anybody else, it would not have affected their careers, other than the bonus money that comes from being named one of the major award winners. Had the trade not happened, though, who's to say how Stoudamire would have fared in his career?

Armstrong is one of the few players who has gone on to be an agent after his playing career.
