A new personal record!

I didn't expect this to happen today, but I set a new personal record that will be hard to beat. When I woke up this morning, I was not feeling well. My health issues have been acting up as late (I don't wish to go into them more) but I decided early on I was going to spend most of the day scanning. I don't know why but it went easier today, even though I mixed in some mirror foils and Finest pages, which take about double the time to edit than a regular scan.

In the end, I scanned 81 pages of cards! Since I began doing the fronts and backs of each card in 2012, my record was somewhere in the 40s. I don't remember if it was 42 or 46 but I do remember it was somewhere in the 40s. I doubled that number today!
The number is uneven because I had one page where I only had to do one side.

That is a grand total of 746 scans made, edited and labeled...all since 6:30 this morning.

It is going to take me days to post these scans to the Database, but I enjoy it.

Quite a few of the cards that came out of the boxes were some of my favorite sets, which made it more fun. My collection is sorted somewhat by player, somewhat random so I have no idea what is going to be in each box as I open it.

  1. That's a whole lot of scanning! I think I'd go cross-eyed after about 30 scans.

  2. I love scanning. I average about 12 to 15 pages a day, it's rare when I can do this many. I did one more page fully after the post, a page of Finest and Chrome cards, and prepped more for cropping tomorrow but as I type this I'm about 10 minutes short of 22 hours awake and I'm headed to bed.

  3. Wow, that is a ton of work, scanning can be such a tedious job. When I joined Zistle last year I went through a similar process and I don't think I could have done more than 10-12 a day before hitting a point of going crazy.

    1. It is, and lately I've been somewhat burned out. I basically took August off aside from new additions, but I truly love doing it...I've been working on it since 2009, and I still have a long way to go before I finish my collection. And when I finish the cards, I'm going to scan other collections too...I love the process of scanning.

  4. I don't necessarily hate scanning, but their is no way I could do 80 pages. That is quite a feat!

You should work for a court house. The files would be indexed in a week!

    1. Ha! I don't know about that. I have never done this many before, and I doubt I can keep up the pace...Back when my health was better I did consider a career in law in fact.

  5. wow. that's a tonne of cards. How do you do it? Scan a full page of nine and then crop each one? or load the cards individually onto the flatbed?

any chance you belong to Zistle? Put those scans to good use!

    1. 9 then crop. I post the scans to the Trading Card Database, and my own website.
